What is Department of Supply Chain Management?
DHL Supply Chain 於 2017 年委託 Iharrington Group LLC 及美國馬里蘭大學,針對全球供應鏈的人才供需狀況進行調查,匯集 350 位以上全球供應鏈及作業專家之諮詢意見。調查報告顯示,全球供應鏈產業正面臨人才短缺,這種短缺現況已從斷層演變為危機。
領先的企業瞭解他們必須採取行動解決此一情況,特別是在某些行業中,供應鏈人才斷層可能威脅企業的全球競爭力——這正是本系存在的意義:為產業儲備能夠真正勝任供應鏈管理工作的專業人才。
In 2017, DHL Supply Chain commissioned Iharrington group LLC and the University of Maryland to conduct a survey on the supply and demand of talents in the global supply chain. Based on the consultation opinions of more than 350 global supply chain and operation experts, the newly released survey report (The Supply Chain Talent Shortage: From Gap To Crisis) showed that the global supply chain industry is facing a talent shortage. This shortage situation has evolved from a fault to a crisis. Leading companies understand that they must take action to solve this situation, or face the use of incompetent personnel in the future. The consequences of using more people to manage the supply chain are worrying potential problems, especially in certain industries, where supply chain talent gaps may threaten the global competitiveness of companies in them.

To adapt to the development trends of Industry 4.0 and the era of supply chain competition, our department has established two educational goals. The first is to cultivate supply chain management professionals by emphasizing the integration of the four supply chain flows: business flow, information flow, cash flow, and logistics, thereby enhancing the logistical competitive advantage of industries. The second goal is to develop professionals with practical expertise in sustainable, marine, and technology supply chains.

落實產學合作理念,持續進行課程再設計,透過專題研究與實習培育業界所需人才。善用高雄作為國際港灣城市與南台灣科技廊帶樞紐的雙重地緣優勢,全力發展兩大特色領域,建立難以被複製的學術品牌與產業影響力。
By implementing the concept of industry-academia cooperation, we continuously redesign our curriculum. Through specialized research areas and internships, we cultivate the supply chain management professionals required by the industry, equipping them to promote cross-organizational collaboration within corporate groups. Leveraging Kaohsiung's dual geographical advantages as an international harbor city and a hub for the Southern Taiwan science and technology corridor, we focus on developing two distinctive fields: "Sustainable and Blue Supply Chains" and "Technology Supply Chains." The former concentrates on the marine economy, green port management, and the marketing and distribution of aquatic products. The latter aligns with high-value-added industries such as semiconductors and smart manufacturing. Through this differentiated positioning, we aim to establish a unique academic brand and industrial influence that are difficult to replicate.
